Constructivism

Cognitivism utilizes technology for richer more complex problem solving, collaboration, and message design. In this learning model technology moves from the static teacher directed applications into dynamic interactive applications, as shown in the chart below.



Students use "empty" technologies to create their own artifacts. Teachers and students utilize auditory, visual, and verbal processing in the message design to help students organize information so that it makes sense.

Kellen Maicher discusses the use and development of computer programs that allow students the freedom to create and explore rich educational environments.
